Amy L. Glaser

Amy joins Associates in Dispute Resolution after completing her LL.M. in Dispute Resolution. Her legal background is broad, ranging from representing plaintiffs in multi-district and local class action litigation to representing insurance companies, defending work-related injury claims and public sector experience with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. 

Amy focuses on civil mediation and arbitration in a wide variety of subject matters with an emphasis on personal injury and consumer issues.  She can also offer assistance with the design of internal dispute resolution processes and group facilitation/ meetings services for your clients.  As a mediator, Amy’s philosophy is to work with the parties and their counsel to focus the parties on identifying the options for and the benefits of resolution.  Further, she believes that the lawyers representing the parties know the law particular to each case and views her role as helping parties use that knowledge to reach the most beneficial and efficient resolution.  As an arbitrator, Amy carefully weighs all relevant evidence and testimony, within the parameters agreed upon by the parties, to arrive at a well-thought out opinion as to the most appropriate resolution of the conflict. 

Education

Ms. Glaser earned her Juris Doctorate at Drake University Law School, Des Moines, Iowa and her LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from University of Missouri-Columbia, Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution, Columbia, Missouri.  Her program of study included Methods of (Dispute Resolution) Program Evaluation and Design, Understanding Conflict, Advanced Arbitration, Insurance Claims and Dispute Resolution, Non-Binding Methods of Dispute Resolution (Mediation) as well as research projects concerning the application of various dispute resolution methods to disbursements of class action settlement funds and the capacity of mediation participants.  Additional training includes a focus on the core principles of mediation, civil mediation, arbitration and mediation of consumer and construction disputes.

Professional Activities

Ms. Glaser is an approved mediator in Missouri, Kansas, the Western District of Missouri and the District of Kansas.  She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association’s ADR Committee, the Kansas City Bar Association ADR Committee, Heartland Mediator’s Association and the Association of Missouri Mediators.
