ARTHUR A. CHAYKIN
 
Arthur Chaykin is Of Counsel with the Erickson, Kernell, Derusseau & Klepas, a law firm focused on intellectual property law.  Arthur focuses on business law issues relating to intellectual property such as licensing, development contracts, manufacturing agreements, joint venture agreements, distribution and sales agreements, intellectual property dispute resolution, internet domain name issues, and other complex commercial matters. Formerly, Arthur was General Counsel for SFA, Inc., the leading distributor of automotive lifting equipment and related accessories in the United States where he was responsible for all legal affairs on a multi-national basis.  Arthur has broad experience in intellectual property, products liability, commercial and contract matters, and human resources law.  Arthur was also formerly Vice President of Law at the Sprint Corporation where he served, in succession, as Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Vice President of General Business & Technology Law, and Vice President for Strategic Planning for Sprint Business.  Before joining Sprint, Arthur was a law professor and he taught at the University of Miami Law School, Northern Illinois University College of Law, University of Pittsburgh School of Law, and Washburn Law School.
 
Arthur’s dispute resolution practice focuses on intellectual property disputes, business and commercial disputes, tort claims and products liability claims, partnership disputes and international business disputes.

Dispute Resolution Experience
Arthur was one of the originators of the Kansas Bar Association’s original course in Civil Mediation. He has taught literally hundreds of lawyers the art of mediation. Arthur started mediating in 1982 when he was trained at CDR in Boulder, Colorado. He taught Alternative Dispute Resolution and Arbitration at the University of Pittsburgh Law School and authored two law review articles on the liabilities and responsibilities of mediators. Arthur has arbitrated and mediated numerous cases in all aspects of business and tort law, and has acted as an advocate in many others.
 
Education
Mr. Chaykin has earned his Bachelor of Arts with High Honors in Politics at Brandeis University where he was magna cum laude.  He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and graduated magna cum laude.
 
Professional Activities
Arthur is on the Executive Board of the University of Kansas School of Business Center for International Business, Education & Research. He is also a member of the Board for the Center for International Business Ethics at the University of Kansas. He is a former member of the Advisory Board to the American Arbitration Association and a former editor and member of the editorial board for Business Law Today. He is Vice President of Congregation Beth Torah in Overland Park, KS.
