James Buchele
Prior to his death on May 29, 2003, Jim was a partner and co-founder of Associates in Dispute Resolution. He retired after serving 18 years as a Kansas District Court Judge in Shawnee County. Before Appointment to the bench, Jim was the United States Attorney for the District of Kansas (1977-81). His legal career began in 1966 with private practice in Topeka, Kansas. He also served as City Attorney for the city of Topeka and administrative assistant to a member of congress. He served four terms as State Representative in the Kansas Legislature. He has been involved in a wide range of litigation in state and federal court. He has experience in all types of torts and professional malpractice; employment, compensation and discrimination; commercial litigation including construction, insurance, securities and real estate; domestic relations; administrative appeals from all agencies of state government, and felony criminal trials. He has conducted over 150 jury trials. At the time of his death he was a Senior Judge on the Kansas Court of Appeals.
